It’s a big, cold world, and we all need the support of friends, family, a coach or mentor, and others who want us to succeed.
But remember this: No one can want you to reach your goals more than you do.
- That means YOU must be your No. 1 cheerleader.
- It means YOU must hold yourself accountable even when you can slip by others’ watchful eyes.
- It means YOU are the quarterback, the CEO, the ONE in Charge of All Things Related to Your Healthy Living Goals.
Look, it would be nice to let someone else be in charge and just do what we’re told, wouldn’t it? But that’s not how it works.
No one else can know what most drives you or what most worries you. No one else can keep track of this, that and all the rest – of your schedule, your conflicts, and your priorities. And no one else can be expected to follow the agenda you’ve set for yourself MORE THAN YOU DO.
Even a spouse or family member. Even a coach. Even a parent.
Everyone’s too busy. Everyone’s thinking about their own stuff more. Everyone’s too self-focused – which is a good thing, because it means they’re taking care of themselves.
Your self-care is No. 1 to you. As it should be. As it must be.
Own that – and always remember it.
